This tool is the safe way to cut buttonholes - there is no risk of slicing through your careful buttonhole stitching. Place the sharp chiseled end into the middle of your buttonhole and tap gently with a hammer to cut through the fabric. Make sure to do this on your cutting mat or a wooden block so that you don't damage the table!
The chisel measures 12mm (almost 1/2") making it an excellent size for shirt buttonholes.
